How long it takes
There's no official overall timeline, but these official time limits shape how long registration takes.
You must finish your online application within 60 days of starting it, or it's deleted.
In the new NDIS Commission Portal, draft applications that aren't submitted are deleted automatically after 30 days.

For a certification audit, the Stage 2 onsite audit should take place within 3 months of Stage 1.
Auditors submit their report up to 14 days after a verification audit, or up to 28 days after a certification audit.
A major non-conformity gives you 3 months to fix the issue, and registration doesn't progress until it's addressed.
The NDIS Commission's decision time depends on your size, scale and the range and complexity of your supports. There's no fixed timeframe.
Certification providers' mid-term audit must start no later than 18 months into the registration period.

Frequently asked questions
How much does NDIS registration cost?
Registering with the NDIS Commission is free. The main cost is the audit by an approved quality auditor, plus worker screening, and optionally a consultant, policy templates and insurance. Use the estimator above for a range based on your situation.
How much does an NDIS verification audit cost?
Published estimates put a verification audit at about $900 to $1,800. The NDIS Commission doesn't set audit prices, so get quotes from more than one approved quality auditor.
Why is the certification audit range so wide?
Certification audits include onsite visits, interviews and observation. The NDIS Commission says audit cost depends on the size and scale of your organisation and the number of participants you support, and the Rules require the assessment to be proportionate to your size, locations and the scope and complexity of your supports.
Who pays for worker screening?
The NDIS Commission says workers pay a fee to get their worker screening check; the fee is set by each state and territory. A clearance is valid for 5 years and can be used in any state or territory.
